Join us for an informative Parkinson's 101 presentation! This Introduction to Parkinson’s disease (PD) presentation is a general overview of the Parkinson’s disease state, including the development of motor and non-motor (gastrointestinal, sleep and other) symptoms, and treatment options. This presentation does not focus on a specific treatment or provide medical advice. The content and language in the presentation are geared for patient education only.
About the Presenter:
Dr. Shannon Blume is a Senior Medical Science Liaison with AbbVie Neuroscience. She completed her bachelor’s degree (Neurobiology) at the University of Wisconsin Madison in 2006 and her PhD (Pharmacology) at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. After graduating, Dr. Blume moved to Philadelphia for her postdoctoral training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia/University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Blume has 14 years in clinical and basic science research, focusing on the electrophysiological properties of the brain in numerous disease states, including Parkinson’s Disease, mood-related psychiatric disorders and sleep disorders. Prior to joining AbbVie, Dr. Blume completed a fellowship with the Clinical Research Support Office at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to improve patient awareness and recruitment in clinical trials. Dr. Blume joined AbbVie 5 years ago as a Medical Science Liaison with Neuroscience, and is based in Asheville, NC. In her current position, Dr. Blume provides education on neurological disease states and supports AbbVie’s Parkinson’s and other neuroscience pipeline products.
