Annie Coy, Nurse Navigator at VCU Health
Annie Coy, BSN, RN, CNRN is the clinical nurse navigator for VCU’s Parkinson and Movement Disorders Center where she facilitates care for patients living with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, functional neurologic disorders, spinocerebellar ataxias, progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), multiple system atrophy (MSA) and corticobasal degeneration (CBD). She coordinates both the Parkinson’s disease and PSP (atypical parkinsonism) multidisciplinary clinics for which VCU is a Parkinson’s Foundation Center of Excellence and a CurePSP Center of Care. In addition to her clinical work, she also serves as a faculty member and panelist for the Parkinson’s Foundation and CurePSP’s joint educational course “Caring for Your Patients with Atypical Parkinsonism.” Annie’s experience with movement disorders started in 2012 when VCU hired her as the clinic nurse for the PMDC. After 4 years in that role, she spent 2 years on the inpatient hospice unit downtown and another 2 in home hospice nursing. She rejoined VCU in May 2020 and is honored to be caring for patients and caregivers affected by movement disorders. Annie graduated from VCU in 2005 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and is currently working on her master’s degree in the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner track. She lives in Richmond, VA with her husband and daughter.
