Over the last five years, it has been a pleasure serving the Parkinson’s community right here in Central Virginia. In this time, we have identified the gaps in support within our region and aimed to fill them through exercise, wellness, and educational programming. As we close out another year, we want to thank you for your tremendous support for yet another year. Through your generosity, we were able to accomplish many things this year, including:

-
Parkinson’s Activity League “PAL” events that provide socialization opportunities for People with Parkinson’s (“PwPs”) and their care-partners. We enjoyed bowling, axe throwing, shuffleboard, and more!
-
Exercise Classes – We currently offer 8 free classes per week with something for everyone including our self-created program, “HEAT” , PWR!Moves, yoga, and dance - we are proud to have these classes makeup our comprehensive PD exercise program. Because exercise is the only known therapeutic to slow the progression of the disease, we are passionate about making exercise accessible to PwPs in an array of modalities.
-
Educational Opportunities including curated YouTube videos, in-person educational events and printed items. We are notably proud of our new “PD Burnout” Series where we address the mental burden associated with the disease.
Because of you, our community, we were able to make ALL of this programming free to people with PD and their care partners. With so much more to come, and so much work still left to do, including supporting care partners in their journey with a program beginning in January, we ask that you kindly consider your continued support throughout the holiday season and beyond. Donations can be made by visiting our website (www.poweroverpd.org) or sending a check.
We wish you all a warm and peaceful holiday season! We will see you in 2024!
